Shopping District: Any designer you could name has a boutique on the posh and prestigious Palisades Drive. And when you’re done shopping, you can duck into an art gallery or one of the many quaint bistros that serve a variety of cuisines. Several 5 star restaurants also call this part of town home as well as the uber popular Club Oasis.

Rio Vista (River View): Just across the San Marcos bridge, this residential section of downtown is “the” place to live. Brick town homes, warehouse lofts, and block after block of cafes and shops make this an exciting and vibrant place to call home. It is also a designated arts district and the future home of the Picasso Center for the Arts.

(Notable Residents: Gunther Osborne & Sienna Carlyle)

Phoenix Heights: In it’s hay day it was the place to live in the city. After a few recessions and the flight of several business across the water to the revitalized business district, Phoenix Heights’ glamour has paled in recent years. Still, the charm of what was once a beautiful neighborhood can still be see in the classic brick architecture and historical fixtures like the original City Hall building and Jay’s Diner, which still has the best comfort food in the city.

Steel Street: A street as well as an entire section of town, this long thoroughfare is dotted with several factories, both old and new. It is the home to Las Vistas public works, MSI’s shipping yard, and the old Dennison Steel Mill, for which the street was named, an old, if unsafe city landmark.
